"Someday you'll find the right person, and you'll learn to have a lot more confidence in yourself. That's what I think. So don't settle for anything less. In this world, there are things you can only do alone, and things you can only do with somebody else. It's important to combine the two in just the right amount."

- Haruki Murakami

sad-queer:

things "body positivity" movements should address besides weight/fat:

  • (dis)ability
  • features associated with non-whiteness
  • hair type
  • lots of body hair / no body hair / little body hair / hair in all places / losing hair
  • acne
  • skin conditions
  • scars
  • stretch marks
  • skin discolorations
  • different ways that skin tans
  • tanlines
  • etc

so when white feminists show me pictures of fat able-bodied white women with super smooth skin and no discolorations/skin marks and no body hair and say "love your body!!1!" it's like nope.

I may be fat but I'm also so many other things that are looked down upon and policed. If your body positivity doesn't seek to dismantle white supremacy/ableism/cissexism/etc, what good is your body positivity? who is it helping?

theleatherandlace:

On Christmas eve, I received a package in the mail; it was this lehenga style saree in all its glory. Maybe you've recognized that it has an uncanny resemblance to a Sabyasachi piece. You're not mistaken. However, I am not lucky enough for it to be a true Sabya, but to me it is my Sabyasachi (for the time being).

I immediately knew this had to be a special post on Leather & Lace deserving of more than one or two photos. This shoot ended up being much more of a grandiose event that I ever imagined. Yes, these are photos of me, but they are a collective work of some of my very talented friends.

With love, Anj.

tv shows need to stop doing that thing where they have an old racist character they use to make racist jokes under the guise of supposedly laughing at them instead of with them
